Has anyone ever seen an error coin such as this one? Im a newbie and have Been coveting this coin for sum time. Would like to know if you think it's worth having a coin dealer check out? 20180718_195221.jpg 20180718_193945.jpg

Looks like erosion.. Not a Mint error :yack:

Coveting is when you desire to have something.. You own this Quarter so you can't covet it because it's already yours ;)

Your quarter has been exposed to some chemical. Someome tried to acid dipped it.

There could be numerous reasons why it looks that way, but regardless of what happened, it occurred after it left the mint 51 years ago.

It is damaged and only worth face value (and marginally at that)

    Welcome to Cointalk Julie.

As mentioned your quarter has had a long journey before it came into your possession. It is virtually UNLIMITED what could happen to coinage after it leaves the mint. But PMD - Post Mint Damage (any damage after it leaves the mint) can usually be easily identified such as with your coin.

Also appears to have a collapsed bubble from having extreme heat applied to it.
