maybe a slight offstrike, but nothing significant for additional value. but I'm not an expert at that. Also, always best to see both sides.
My apologies, but I was also reading somewhere that these are rare dates and mints. I'm new to this so I am just checking before I through it to the side.
in 1982 the US MINT made in Philadelphia - 500,931,000 in Denver - 480,042,788 and only Proof from San Francisco of 3,857,479 not exactly rare by any means especially one as worn from circulation as your is ==> https://www.usacoinbook.com/coins/quarters/washington/ you could check eBay SOLD auctions for 1982 quarters ==> https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=1982+quarter&_sacat=0&LH_Sold=1&LH_Complete=1 2001 you can look up here ==> https://www.usacoinbook.com/coins/quarters/50-states-and-territories/ What did you read / see that made you think it's rare ? there is A LOT of misinformation / really bad information out there especially on YouTube, pInterest, etsy, etc.
And of course it was You tube! They spoke of the high mintage, but also spoke of why they were more popular because I guess many people were not collecting them. And just as you Sid, it is not a great coin. Thanks again!
Maybe it's just the photo, but something seems to be going on with GW's forehead and lips area between nose and chin on the 1982 (?)
Back in 82 and i believe 83 the mint did a very poor job minting quality coins that year. Very few can be found in excellent condition. If you find one NEAR perfect those years have some value. Your coin has been in circulation so long that it well worn. 25 cents worth
Correctomundo..........and as I recall, there were no mint sets issued for those two years. You could pick up souvenir sets, at the respective mints, for those years but who wanted to drive all the way to Denver? From the few sets I've seen (souvenir) they're nothin' to write home about. Also too, nobody saved any of these coins in large quantity back in the day so there are few excellent examples in the here and now.
There’s a few of us that hoard Washington quarters. ==> https://www.cointalk.com/threads/19...ollection-and-why.317630/page-18#post-3135173 But I keep all my change for no real reason other than habit.
Someone said it was too damaged to even matter, even though there is an error there and in the edge of the coin (looks misaligned).
