well i won this little coin, http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280185819863 . i got it today but now i see this huge C stampt on the said there was no pics of .what do i do now?
E-bay at its best again. Chalk it up to a lesson learned. Your lose is minimal. Even better, keep this and share with others who are new and subject to the same dishonest treatment. These types of auctions are why I won't deal with e-bay and others like it. Coins shows and fair minded dealers are my source today.
Have you tried contacting the seller for a refund ? It's possible they offer return privilege (they don't specify in the auction). The time to work out details is BEFORE bidding. Contact the seller. Insist on pictures of BOTH sides of the coin. If they only show one side of the coin, there's a reason. Learn their return policy. A good dealer offers returns and wants 100% customer satisfaction. They want you to be happy. Also insist on the wording "the coin pictured is the one you will recieve". Good luck !
Considering the amount involved, I'd try to return the favor. Most eBay sellers aren't familiar with the fact that feedback can be left after 90 days. I'd neg him after the item gets removed from the normal feedback venue. If he doesn't know how to return the favor, I'm sure he'll be really ticked off. If you're interested in how it's done, drop me a line.
Why do some of you react too fast. This coin was only bought 3 days ago. Just call him up. I'm sure he will let you return it..
This is why I never buy coins on Ebay that doesn't have good pics of BOTH sides of the coin. Luckly you didn't pay much at all for it. If he doesn't offer a refund, I'd take the above advise. Guy~
ebay is a graveyeard for the mpst part touched up photos and what not and all the shady practise syou can think ogf but yuyou can stil get good deals
You use this as a very inexpensive reminder not to bid on items that aren't fully imaged and/or which are being offered by sellers without a stated return privilege. Though I don't expect you to do this, if I were in your shoes I would politely request a full refund, including postage. And if the seller refused, I'd leave him negative feedback, even though I would expect to receive a negative in return.
Well i sent him an email .......i got the coin today i am not very happy with it. you did not say nothing about a big C stampt on the said you do not show in pics. I would have not bid if i had seen it.i am going to leave you neg feedback 1/2/2008......... He sent me one......first of all send it back if you don't like it, secondly if u leave me neg feedback i wll leave u neg feedback.......sounds like a threat to me so i sent another email im expecting full refund $9.40 your shipping is very bad a normal envelope for a coin is not good and when i get the money back i will send you the coin. I am the one with 100% pos feedback
Contact the seller and see if you can get your money back before you do anything. If that doesn't work the feedback is up to you. If you drop a negative you'll probably get one in return. Do YOU want a negative feedback. Unfortunately that's thw way it works. If you can't return keep it as a reminder as others have said. Or sell it as is with pictures of both sides. You have many options and thankfully it wasn't a big dollar amount. I got burned in my ebay infancy for about $60. My feedback was less than 10 at the time whereas the sellers was well over 1000 (talking almost 10 years ago). I took my lumps but left those stupid coins sitting on my computer desk as a reminder. Eventually sold them as junk silver but believe me that "reminder" on my desk made me think a lot more before bidding. Good luck. clembo
You are going about this in a manner that will not get you the results you want. You shouldn't threaten to leave negative feedback BEFORE you know he won't work with you. Also, if you had to pay for the coin before he shipped it, you should be willing to send it back before you receive a refund. I'd suggest that you politely tell him you are requesting a full refund, including shipping, since he did not disclose or provide an image of the problem. And let him know that if he does that you will consider the matter resolved.
I suspect the damage is done, and it is too late for that. Operating the mouth before putting the brain in gear is never, ever, a wise tactic!
Very good advice here - heed it & learn. You will not win this battle with threats to the seller, and neither Paypal nor EBAY will intervene on your behalf as they earn from the seller not the victim ... I mean, buyer. We're not cynical ~ we're just not naive anymore to trust Ebay sellers blindly or expect PP/EB to be our advocates. Your friends are here - advising and supporting you to consider it an cheap lesson in asking the seller questions, reading feedback, checking the dates of the feedback, checking the 'seller' feedback (making sure all positive feedback isn't as a buyer, or a person who's been selling 'weedeaters' for years & suddendly sells coins ... ) basically, not bidding on impulse. These are coins, not kidneys; if you lose the auction while doing your homework, it may be a blessing rather than a loss. Many people aren't 'broken in' that inexpensively. Good luck & Happy New Year.
I've read alot of good advice so far in this thread. I've been buying on Ebay for quite a while and I'm pretty picky with who I buy from. One thing I have noticed with sellers that I dont agree with is that some of them wait to leave feedback for you because they want to see what you've left first. It doesnt matter if you sent your payment immediately and did everything right on your end, if you leave negative feedback without trying to work with the seller beforehand, they will leave negative for you also. I never bid on an auction either that doesnt show good clear pics of both sides of the coin. If they dont care to present their product in a professional manner then I dont care to bid on it. Pretty simple. Try to work with the seller in a professional manner, even though he may not be, and it'll save both of you a negative.
well he answered my email he said... no problem...thats all he said know i wait for refund thanks for all the advice you guys are grate
Be sure to mail it back with delivery confirmation. Without that , Pay Pal will tell you to drop dead.
