    According to coinflation, Copper (as of this writing) is around [FONT=Arial, Helvetica][FONT=Arial, Helvetica]$3.0407 a pound. So why are virtually all the copper bars on eBay going for more than melt? I mean, some of them are going for twice to three times melt!!

    Take for example this 3 Kilo bar:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...m=260197807292&_trksid=p3984.cALLBUY.m311.lVI

    3 Kilos = around 6 lbs. So it should be worth around $18.00, and maybe a reasonable S&H fee. But it's at $24 and rising!! And that's before S&H!! :eek:

    why?
    Easy:
    1) People are betting that the price is still going to go up.
    2) People like nice shiny things.
    3) Auction fever;
    4) dumb.

    5) A kilo is 2.2 lbs. which narrows the gap a bit

    Check out feedback, there are people paying alot more than that.

    Also check out what some are paying for aluminum and lead bars.

    I think you have to consider that this might not be a financial transaction as much as a desire to own something cool and decorative. It's tough to put a price on that.

    i was always under the impression that metal prices were in troy ounces and troy pounds. a troy pound only has 12 troy ounces i believe.

    so if the quoted $3.0407 a pound price is indeed in troy pounds, that would effect the price as well.
