    I beleive that is a very small cud. It happens when the die gets damaged and allows an extra bit of metal to seep into the damaged area. Sort of like this...
    This is a 1831 BEL 5 Rappen from the Swiss Canton Freiburg. I threw it under the QX5 and took these pics.
