Hello, im new here and not sure if anyone can answer my question. I have a curious looking 2013 p dime. Both sides are very deep and the outer rim is shiny smooth with copper and silver.
It's been "spooned" or stuck in a dryer. Check out "Dryer Coin" or "Spooned Coin". Post mint damage though. Only worth 10 cents.
an undamaged dime has a serrated edge. Looks like someone sanded/spooned this one down. Why? who knows …
Thank you all who responded. I get a lot of strange looking coins from work but finally got the nerve to ask
Welcome to CT Cynth. Many bored Navy men would use a mess spoon to make rings out of coins during long hours on cruises. They would beat the edges repeatedly with the spoon. My father made a couple of rings during his time in WW II. It looks like someone started doing that with your dime and then for whatever reason, gave up. Interesting conversation piece.
