Choice is 63, Gem is 65.

I think MS-64 on the OP coin.

    John Skelton Morgan man!

Thanks, that means a lot coming from you! I don't intend to get it graded anyway, but I feel like it already has been on here.

Look for more in the days ahead.

MS-63. Too common and many high grade examples already out there.

That may be, still doesn't mean I don't like what it is.

It's certainly a nice coin. However, I wouldn't have it graded by a third party grading service, as it's not worth enough. Generally, unless a coin is worth $150 or more, don't have it graded.

I always look forward to posts about Morgans. :)

No, I know better than to have low dollar coins graded just by asking around here and seeing how much the TPGs charge.

And now that I know how to scan and post here, you'll be seeing more Morgans!

I'm selling an 1899-O Morgan that also has a die crack all around the perimeter of the reverse where it says "United States of America One Dollar". It's uncirculated and pretty nice, maybe not as nice as yours. We'll see what it is worth.

Sometimes it makes sense to submit low-value coins -- especially with a low-fee TPG.

ANACS offer a $15/coin economy grading service. No membership fees, but you pay shipping.

Better yet, wait for their next ~$10/coin special. That's what I did for a bunch of raw Morgans I inherited.

I sold many on ebay for $30 - $60. And they sold rather quickly... potential buyers get peace-of-mind with the authentication that goes with a TPG slab. Sold a few at local Shows too.

Profit? Not so much. But it feels better than selling 'em sub-$20 for their silver content (that's what my local shop offered).

More importantly, there's less $$$ risk learning how to sell coins with lower-priced stuff.
