Found a Bi Kennedy that has some great doubling on both the obverse and reverse. Obverse is big on the 6's and 9's but can be seen on almost all numbers. Reverse is STATES AND OF. Only let down is the wear on the reverse of the coin has done a little to take away from what I think would of been huge doubling on the 2nd "S" of STATES and the "F" of OF. I think some more areas might have slight doubling elsewhere on the coin with further inspection. Let me know what you think, should I get it graded? Any value opinions?
that is neat. now I'm going to have to check all my Bicentennial Halves. @paddyman98 @CoinCorgi @Rick Stachowski
The close up of STATES shows very clear doubling on the T and E. It is also on the obverse with the E showing doubling.
I think everything you are showing in your photos looks like MDD (Machine Damage Doubling). Larry Nienaber
Here is the best picture I could get of it. I feel like the top of the 9 and then the 6 are doubled, but I am inexperienced. I have been reading more on the MDD and I can see that in it. But the 6 especially keeps my hopes up.
I highlighted the key to your perception of the doubling. When I first saw it I thought Mechanical Doubling as it has all the attributes of it but I've never seen it on a half. So I thought I would leave it up to a few that have massive experience in this matter.
I would have to agree with MD. Take a look at my avatar as it shows some common MD on a KHD. Your coin has the flat shelf like appearance that my coin does too. Also, notice how the flat shelf disappears into the numbers? Classic MD trait. Still, I would keep it as a nice clean example of that type of doubling.
