0AAB83AE-E850-4BD0-8A66-EDCB4B97A377.jpeg I have a 1982 D penny with misspelled words IN “GUD” WE “TRUSY”. This penny is one big mess. There is doubling and all kinds of things going on with it. I don’t know much about coins and errors or how to describe what the issues are so any help is greatly appreciated. B5DC48A1-5031-478D-B48F-408FB9248CF1.jpeg

Sorry, just damage. Not a mint error

    Welcome to CT!!!

As stated this is just circulation damage. The last T in trust took a hit and pushed the metal a little to cause it to look like a Y.

    A spender IMO.

Copper is very soft and is easily moveable, and wear.
Look at all the scraps, wear and stuff on the coin. If you hit the top of a "T" it can be easily made to look like a "Y".

Just an old penny that has had a lot of damage.
