I get 4 boxes of halves a week and two boxes this week were entirely 1995p. Should i keep them? Sell them?
If you decide to sell, I'll take some rolls. My son's birth year. But if you don't want hassles, I'd recycle them.
Try selling a few or check the interest factor. Bet you could maybe make a few bucks. I like to have full rolls. One of each but how do you dump a whole box of perfect coins away and not check a few. Hummmm. What to do?
Should I open the rolls to make sure they are in fact uncirculated if I were to try to sell them? Here's a photo of the wrapper.
They are not uncirculated as they did not come from the mint. Yes they look new, but Loomis machines will put scratches, marks and gouges on every single one of those coins in their counting and rolling machines. I am willing to bet if you looked at every single coin with a loupe, you will find a scratch on every one. V.Kurt says they DO come from the mint that way. I still don't like the damage that Loomis machines puts on coins.
Well, I backtrack. They do appear uncirculated because of luster. But I don't believe they come from the mint in Loomis rolls. Loomis may have gotten bags from the mint, and rolled them for their bank customers. The Loomis machines put scratches on every coin, and even though they may technically be uncirculated, every single coin will have scratch damage on it. You are better off with mint bags and bag marks than Loomis scratch rolls. V.Kurt says they DO come from the mint that way. I still don't like the damage that Loomis machines puts on coins.
They came from the Federal Reserve that way. The 3rd district uses N.F. String & Sons of Harrisburg, PA to roll and box new coins. Some other district obviously uses Loomis.
V.Kurt says they DO come from the mint that way. I still don't like the damage that Loomis machines puts on coins. If Loomis rolled them, there's going to be damage. I have been picking up 5 rolls of quarters a month, not to roll hunt for silver but just to try and find the new issue ATB quarters for my album. I finally got an acceptable Pictured Rocks, and I just got a nice luster George Rogers Clark reverse of course with obverse damage. Still looking for Apostle and Voyageurs. Well a couple months ago all my rolls were (Loomis) brand new uncirc Fort Moultrie (2016) and I figured I could upgrade my coin with 1 nice MS coin. 200 coins, uncirc. and every single one had scratches and gouges from Loomis machines. These were not bag marks, and these coins had not circulated. The damage HAD to come from Loomis machines.
I would hold them a week or so while they sit on ebay and see if any tackers. Or drop buy a local coin shop and see if theres any interest there. Then you'll know what to do next time. Like i said i wouldn't mind picking one up. And I'm cheap
You know kurt knows what he's talking about. Remember from where he sits he can smell whats going on at the Philly mint. You gotta know that!!!!! @V. Kurt Bellman
Remember, though, that the Mint is NOT the Federal Reserve, and the Federal Reserve is NOT the Mint. The Federal Reserve is a quasi-independent entity and the Mint is a full blown U.S. Government bureau under the Treasury Department. We still have creatures of the species Moronicus Americanus who can’t keep the distinction straight, including numismatic writer Patrick Heller. You can read all over the Internet about what the Federal Reserve is doing with our gold and that we should “audit” the Federal Reserve’s gold. THE FEDERAL RESERVE OWNS ZERO GOLD!!!! Every scrap, every stinking dust particle of the gold at Fort Knox is owned by the Bureau of the Mint, Department of the Treasury, NOT the Federal Reserve. Put THAT in your Ron Paul bumper sticker and smoke it!
