Olympic Athletes are a credit to their race - THE HUMAN RACE.
Calling a person a racist is over used, not understood and nearly
meaningless. I've never been afraid to call a spade a shovel and
no amount of PC hectoring will change that.

Monster - we can always find reasons to give up, when the going gets tough. and we can all find excuses for abandoning ship. Maybe best to consider what positive matters you have learned, and are learning. You may need to take leave, for a while, but you will surely be welcome back, when the time is right. For now, you can accept the smiles from your coins - they are also your friends !!!

Is that really what he said/meant, or could it be that you're spinning the obvious in a way that suits your preferred political narrative?

Perhaps I should follow your lead and bring up at least one of the numerous well-known examples where the accuser has blatantly lied, damaging and/or ruining the accused's life in process, and often for no other reason than feeling slighted? Would that be okay too? After all, if some are willing to mindlessly believe accusers based solely upon their sex it's only fair that some possess the intellectual integrity to admit that one's sex isn't the almighty determiner of truth or fact.

The obvious reality is that any so-called "movement" that embraces the idea that one should automatically be believed simply because of their sex is infinitely dangerous and beyond ripe for abuse. The same goes for a so-called "movement" that embraces the idea that one is unquestionably guilty, regardless of evidence or proof, simply because they happen to be a man. This is nothing more than the reverse of times past when a man was to be believed simply because he's a man and a woman viewed with suspicion simply because she's a woman. It's simply mind boggling that people who clearly so deeply believe that they're embracing/promoting equality are so willing to engage in and/accept anything but.

And before the obligatory accusations of misogyny or bigotry arise, I was raised solely by women after my father's death and also have a young daughter who exists as the light in my eyes. Were someone to physically harm her in any way I fear what I would do in response, but my love for and willingness to protect my own in no way means I'm also willing to blind myself to the reality that people are people, and that sex, color, ethnicity, religion, orientation, or whatever convenient little category used to separate from the greater whole are constructs of the imagination and are in no way suggestive of truth, fact, or honesty.

If those embracing the "me too" thing truly cared about what's right they would demand that those discovered to be lying receive the same punishment (or worse) than the accused innocent would have, but this isn't what happens, is it? No, instead such women are generally given a pass with at most a little slap on the wrist, but in some cases are still held up as shining examples of feminine strength and/or lauded for their abominable actions. Mattress Girl, anyone?

What's wrong with liking South African coins ? I've got Nazi tokens, Spanish Civil War coins, Soviet era coins. I've even got ancient Roman coins - does that make me a genocidal despot ??? And I've got Portuguese Salazar coins, and - wait for it !!! - And I've got Greek coins, from the time of the colonels ! And, horror of horrors, I've got a medallion with Mr. Rasputin !!!

I’ve watched as a quest before joining and realized to avoid asking for knowledge from those that have years of education in this subject. This is not a class room where your professor is expected to impart wisdom and knowledge or even answer questions in a civil manner. It’s unfortunate but civility is no longer valued. It also amazes me that the moderators will crush politics and foul language but don’t choose to intervene in civility, no biggie just an observation. Spoken word is only 7% of communication and written is even a smaller percentage. Written words can come across as harsh when the intent was not, sarcasms in a jovial manner can appear as mean spirited when they are only meant as fun.

Choose your words carefully or then again don’t but no one should be driven away for asking questions. If you cannot answer, direct or encourage someone trying to educate themselves then keep your comment to yourself. It was the basis for your grandmother’s lessen in civility, if you don’t have something good to say don’t say anything at all.

    John Skelton Morgan man!

    Okay.
And just to give my few cents' worth, I think civility works both ways. Sure, some here may give the appearance of not suffering fools gladly, but when you try to educate someone, and they don't want to hear what you have to say, your patience soon runs out. Maybe we should just shut up at that point. But when you're trying to pass along your expertise in matters numismatic and you are rejected, it becomes irritating. If you don't give respect, you may not get it back. Some people do eventually leave here because they aren't getting the answers they want to hear. Sad, but it's their loss.

And I'm certain that you've adopted a spoken affectation so that when you speak, you avoid sounding judgmental when you do - the dreaded "up speak" at the end of each sentence. Like fingernails on a blackboard.
