Why are comments removed in the For Sale section? Wouldn't having the comments turned ON allow members to point out potential frauds quicker?

He's active on CU under the John Klein alias ("johnkleinmaus"). He tried desperately to rip me off on the dime/cent error. I knew something was wrong when I took him down hundreds of dollars and the next day he offered a lower price tag. The age of "his" hands in pictures also helps give it away.

It would cause more problems than create help. For example, I imagine some people would comment on your listing that your price is too high and create drama about how you're ripping people off... when it very well could be that the commentor is uneducated about the type of variety and the price is fair.

Provide proof in the form of screen shots here then if we agree and can verify it is him, we can add that name to his growing list of aliases and add it to the Blacklist.

Rather than using screen shots from another forum here, just give a URL to the thread there that is being referenced. Remember both That forum and This forum have copyrights to material posted on their threads. Jim

I believe to minimize slander/defamation liability, since the assertion is stated hearsay rather than fact, a mere quote or link will suffice, especially when the source hasn't been vetted, thus:

"He's active on CU under the John Klein alias ("johnkleinmaus"). He tried desperately to rip me off on the dime/cent error. I knew something was wrong when I took him down hundreds of dollars and the next day he offered a lower price tag. The age of "his" hands in pictures also helps give it away.

But wouldn't this fall under reasonable fair use, Jim, especially if the link was provided? Honest question.

Funny with all the legal fears... I get it, but the reality is this guy is so in over his head, so notorious, with so many different aliases and groups and members wanting justice... well, he wouldn't do anything legal in a million years. Guys like this tuck tail and run. They do their dirty deeds in the shadows.

I must ask if you have personally dealt with him? As a buyer/seller with thousands of feedback who has been on the auction sites since I can remember them existing, his actions are what I've seen as "common-place".

I've been "had" by him, and have had worse dealings with major auction houses. We are still communicating, and it's believed as we both have seen his type of actions by others in the marketplace, he/we don't understand what's the problem.

Anyone who has had a criminal offense perpetrated on them should file a police report, which would be needed for a legal prosecution.

I'm not saying that others shouldn't be informed of offensive interaction, but beware of the consequences, as some who have been on this site in this past have learned.

This guy is aEdited: Language period. An honest man doesn't need to create numerous aliases on the same platforms, especially if trying to run an honest business. An honest man doesn't have the same things "happen" to him over and over again that result in his not being able to hold up his side of sales. I could go on but the point is that if it looks like BS and smells like BS, the time must come to call it like it is.

That said I've known a few shysters over the years and generally speaking they've also been the ones most eager to explore legal channels when or if literally anything didn't go their way. Take as you will.

    JCro57 Making Errors Great Again

    buyingcolonial2017@mail.com

Above is the email he uses for paypal. It is not a typo...the end is @mail.com

As I said, he tried to sell me a 1950 cent on silver dime planchet. I was refunded the second he found out I am a former agent with the Treasury Department. I put in a dispute with paypal and it did not take long. Either he was going to refund me or paypal was. Either way, I would not have lost money. The key was in the paypal description, he left it blank and I filled in what the exact item was. He later got really annoyed that I filed an escalation request and said "it was painful" to call them to refund me.

After all that, he had the nerve to ask "so, do you still want it?" Check out the message below:

Maybe. But why put even an annoyance risk on Peter and the forum if it is actually accessible by an URL. Just for the instant appeasement? We usually say people should look things up themselves. You can always kick it up to the administrators for their interpretation, but I am sticking with this. Jim

He has done the same to me, where I'm actually owed a felony sum, but I recognize he has a disease that many in the "industry" have. I agree with you, and ask that you read some of the negative feedback left for prominent sellers on auction sites.

You should do some research about the insurance industry who recently had to pay a 9 figure sum to my state/victims for life insurance fraud. You should be appalled.

You can also find a major insurer who recently quadrupled their annual profits through denial, threats, and requiring absolute written proof, etc.. An industry which has a 2 year statute of limitations.

I'm actively negotiating with agencies for victims. If you want frustration, inaction, lies, etc., you should attempt trying to get satisfaction/acknowledgement from your "representatives".

As I stated, he really doesn't understand!!!

You are fortunate that you contacted PayPal.

I've had large sum (4+ digits) transactions with eBay where they stalled for the 30 day "real time" time allowed for them to investigate/settle a "claim" after paying for an item. The seller didn't respond, and they didn't investigate. They closed the claim/case when I contacted PayPal on the 30th inactive day, and removed all evidence of an auction.

In another instance I bought a rare date Double Eagle, from a seller of African origin/nationality, who bragged that he had written a book "How To Earn A Million On The Internet", after he received my payment notice.

After paying, I noticed he listed the same item again, and also found the item had been sold by another. I reported the item, and EBay removed all evidence of auctions, not responding. There is another prominent auction house who will remove evidence of fraudulent auctions. They have been discussed here by an individual who received little sympathy while in a litigious action. I don't believe he had a successful action.

There's enough injustice to make the "majority" unhappy, but not necessarily supportive.

With all due respect, Rich: what exactly doesn't he "understand"?

It was both a very simple and honest question, but fair points. Not everything is an attack, Jim, and is something that would behoove you to learn, especially in cases when intent is clarified.

That said and since you wished to bring it up, links do not always stay active indefinitely, so maybe, just maybe there could be more to it than said "instant appeasement".
