A couple of years ago I spent some time trying to capture the detail and artistic beauty of Marcus Aurelius' portraits on his coinage. I don't know if I succeeded, but there is no doubt the man was ""portrait-genic". Here are some of mine: oops, sorry, the last one is a denarius of Lucius Verus....
I only have one coin of Marcus Aurelius so far. Not sure what happened to his face though. It looks like someone slashed it.
