i have a misprinted $100 1981 series that i got today from the bank. the front of the bill is offset to the left and the back is normal. is there any collector value to it? sorry for the bad pics. http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b237/bro2539/1228071840.jpg http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b237/bro2539/1228071840fj.jpg
You bet. Not sure of the dollar value, but there is a value. Someone with more knowledge will elaborate. Keep checking back.
Welcome to the forum and yes, it is a keeper. Is there any border from the "next note" showing on the right side of the note? That makes it a more legit error but I would most definitely keep that note. clembo
I like the way the note looks regardless and I'm sure others will as well. It's really hard to place a dollar amount on these types of notes though. It's basically worth what someone will pay for it. $100 notes are tougher to move as well because, after all, it's $100 to begin with. I still say keep it if it's in your budget. If not, get some better pics and sell it. DON'T spend it! clembo
The images need to be a little better in my opinion. The reason I am saying this is that the reverse of the note is showing a dramatic increase in crease lines, what looks like a paper clip mark and a small stain. The obverse seems to be a little less revealing to me, whereas the creases should be mirrored on the note. The reverse is centered so the potential for cut off is eliminated. I would think that a premium for this note would be greater if the note were in better condition. A buyer of this note will purchase it for it's offset only and will point out the lack of quality to you.I am finding that this note from Chicago had a printing of 20,480,000 on the GA block alone. In Gem a normal note would go for ~$175 As a suggestion, I would get the opinion of a seasoned auction house like Heritage, Daid Laurence, or even a 3rd party grading Co. Thanks for sharing that and as Clembo said..do not spend it until you investigate it further. RickieB
