Why do my silver dollars look like they are outlined in a bluish gray. Is this normal?

Perhaps from the background color and the angle you are photoging at?

I love Ike’s and have quite a few. They look perfectly normal to me. I bet if you compared them to quarters from the same time period you would find they look similar.

They look like that with me holding them.

I have and there is no comparison. Do any of yours look like that?

My circulated ones do.... I think... I have four rolls at home in the safe. I’ll double check them this evening when I get home and let you know.

IMHO, it looks like a reflection off the blue underlay. Try a black or white backdrop and see if the blue tinge goes away.

Snapped a quick photo of the Ike book I have in my desk (yes, I have coins everywhere).... Just a quick photo, but other than the proof and 40% silver strikes, they look like yours.

Your coin is a 1976P Ike. These are not silver and yes the non silver ikes tend to tone this way. Not just the circulated ones.

Here is a 1972D ( also not silver) from my collection that is toned similar to yours 1972DMS65.jpg

Here is my 1st 4-piece and I have had them for more than 10 years. I store them in FoodSaver bags...It hasn't changed since I bought them. This is the 2nd time they saw some light.

My last part of Ike coins...They haven't tone at all after 10 years. Use a FoodSaver machine and bag. It will suck any air out and seal the bag as well. This is the 2nd time that I have seen these coins. I love them for their size. I will seal them back again together with my Half Kennedys..Bye bye for them for the next 30 years...
