This is the start of the Canada Day Holiday long weekend with the big day on Sunday (July 1st)- Canada's 151st Birthday. We are expecting an absolute scorcher of a weekend with 35C (95F) expected.. so I plan to be out on the deck and cooling off in the lake with the family. Should be great! While some good strong Canadian beer is on the menu there will also be a few Bloody Caesars consumed by many... Wikipedia Entry: A Caesar (also known as a Bloody Caesar) is a cocktail created and primarily consumed in Canada. It typically contains vodka, a caesar mix (a blend of tomato juice and clam broth), hot sauce, and Worcestershire sauce, and is served with ice in a large, celery salt-rimmed glass, typically garnished with a stalk of celery and wedge of lime. What distinguishes it from a Bloody Mary is the inclusion of clam broth (clam broth - doesn't sound great - but the drink is amazing!) Unfortunately I don't own a coin of the true Caesar that this drink was named after, so I will post a coin of poor Crispus...owner of the title of Caesar .. and came to a similarly bloody end. I hope our good neighbors to the south have a great 4th of July!
Another Canadian here planning to enjoy the long weekend. In my case I live about a 6 minute walk to the lakeshore (Lake Ontario that is). We usually get a nice breeze from the lake on summer nights. The BBQ is going to be working overtime. I went to the butcher today and bought supplies for the next few days. Tomorrow will be t-bone night. All the best and happy Canada day to all the other Canadians out there. I also want to wish our neighbours to the south a happy 4th. And to celebrate the Caesar...
Happy Canada Day! I always listen to Rush and drink beer on Canada Day! Of course, I pretty much do that every other day also. I got two coin in the mail today from Canada now that I think about it! Happy Canada Day to me! Let's get this party started!
I do not know how to tell you this but drinking beer while listening to Rush makes you an honorary Canadian.
Awesome! I'm super Candadian then! Here's a pic of me drinking beer at a Rush concert in Chicago!!! I'll give these coins the proper post they deserve later, but here are my two coin I got from Canada today. They may look familiar to some of you.
Happy Canada Day weekend to all my fellow Canucks on the board!! (Don't forget to wear your maple leaf apex!) We promise we'll never put tariffs on ancient coins, eh?
Happy Canada Day, Canadian coiners! Just ignore those lamenting captives on the reverse and have yourselves a Bloody Caesar or two .
Greetings from Toronto @Clavdivs It will be super hot weekend I am planning to go to Niagra falls and get on boat and enjoy some breeze and water to cool off! I got my Julius Caesar coin recently at CNG. It has his name on reverse.

It's a great day for Canada, and therefore the world! It's also my dad's birthday. He likes to think that the whole country celebrates him. Erin
Ok, now wait a minute! THIS gal looks like she is TEXTING and DRIVING! Holding up her Red Mobile Phone and TEXTING with white-gloved left hand!
Yep I was a teen in the '80's.. Rush was great - but I was more of a Tragically Hip guy. This is our first Canada Day since the passing of one of our big heroes.. singer Gord Downie.. He died at 53.. only Emperor that I can see that died at that age is Macrinus. I don't have one of his coins - but I recently picked up one of his son Diadumenian:
