1943 d wrong planchette

    Has some corrosion but not a wrong planchet.

    It's a normal cent that has been cleaned.

    There's no way that coins been cleaned it's been in an attic since 1976 in a two by two

    Thank u nice tone most of the coins that he showing me are all toned naturally from being in the attic for so long and is Kentucky home

    It was cleaned before it went into the 2X2. That's why it gained the color.

    1943 Cents were minted on steel planchets due to the fact that copper was needed for the war effort.

    I think that may have been why you thought it was struck on the wrong planchet.

    The rainbow toning threw me off I've never seen a penny steel penny like that kind of looks played it in a way

    Cleaning agent residue looks purple on coins.. I have seen many over the years.

    @Willysilver yes, don't forget all the time BEFORE someone else had something.
    can you attain for those 33 years before it was in the attic? What was the complete provenance of the coin from minting until someone put it in a 2x2 ?

    Most people check their pocket change, see something that isn't as shiny as new an think there's something special about it, without ever thinking of what happened to it before they got it. Think "Damage" before "special" ...

    As you gain more experience the phrase "never seen one like this before .." will get used less and less as you will think Damage FIRST.
