Proof Sets - Flea Market Bargain

    Hi all,
    Flea Market Purchase 6/30/2018

    I picked up a total of 7 Proof sets of miscellaneous years for a good price of just $20.00! And the seller threw in a 1971 Eisenhower Proof Dollar for free!
    I got -
    1973 - 1 Set
    1976 - 2 Sets
    1977 - 1 Set
    1978 - 1 Set
    1982 - 1 Set
    1983 - 1 Set
    1971 - $1 Ike

    So.. Was it a good deal? o_O

    It could also be interpreted as being suggestive as to where the market for such sets is and/or is heading. Sometimes it's better to just let things go, hopefully into the hands of someone who will enjoy them.

    Still, fine coins on the cheap. Nothing wrong with that.

    Is there any silver in the 1976 set?

    So they made clad and silver 40% proofs in 1976 quarters, halves, dollars.
    In each case the clad coins are rarer, but the silver have more value.
    There are 2 types of clad dollars, and the Type 1 is rarer and more valuable than the type 2.
    Be fun to check that set out for the variety. Type 1 low relief bold lettering. Type 2 sharp design delicate lettering.

    The type 1 dollars are usually found in 1975 proof sets and the type 2s are usually in the 1976 sets.
