Okay what doest it mean when you have a filled in mint p and d? Quarter? 1972 filled in D. And a 1980 filled in p? Sorry for all the questions! Just need to know a little more.
as the dies get used for longer periods of time they lose their "sharpness". After all the metal dies are hammering against small pieces of metal some 700+ times a minute for who knows how long. So Sharp Details start getting mushy and unclear and filled in over time. Then they change dies and start all over again.
Pics would help. It could be from die deterioration, overpolishing of the die, or a grease filled die. Or a broken post.
