Hi All, I have a query about a discrepancy in dates on the following coin, My issue with it is (when scrolling to the bottom of the page) is that both of the Arabic dates(1246AH and 1247AH) possible on this coin don't quite match up with 1832AD. 1832AD using this reference would run from 1247AH to 1248AH(only half of 1247AH and no 1246AH as stamped on this coin). You guys have always helped out with this sort of stuff, wondering if someone is knowledgeable with this coin at all and is to help me out understand this. Cheers in advance
Not sure I understand. I use my own Excel spreadsheet to do conversions and 1247AH overlaps with 1832AD. The coin pictured at top dated 1246AH is dated 1830AD on the obverse.
Thanks for your reply, indeed 1247AH does match up with 1842(half the year) as i mentioned in my previous post. The issue is that 1832 has two different reverses (KM #231.1 and KM231.2) It is recorded that there are two different dates for the REV but when researching i cannot find any information about the 1246AH date being a mule or what the reason behind this discrepancy is.
I'm certain it has to do with the Hijri calendar as it does not align exactly with the Georgian calendar.
I can sweet where Richard is coming from. Yes I agree that there is a strong possibility that it may be a mule. Would be nice to see an example one day
