TopPop New Member PCGS is routinely overcharging coin submissions. Unfortunately, you are unlikely to find out about it until they email you your receipt, after the submission has been processed and grading finalized. To avoid this unwelcomed surprise, you may want to not provide your credit card or payment information until they have confirmed the charges. Very concerning practice from an otherwise outstanding firm.
Nothing wrong with that..people are willing to pay for it. Collectors hope that their coin would be worth more after it is graded. People have their own choice. There is a demand for service regardless of the cost. Just not for me. Happy Collecting...
Another brand new member spewing presently baseless BS without making even the slightest attempt to back it up. Great.... Seriously, doesn't anyone know how to make their case anymore?
I've never been charged extra for any of my submissions, which number close to 100. I always check, never has been a deviation. I don't know where you think they overcharge routinely. I've never heard any of my friends complain about it.......they also check closely.
Did you present this information on the PCGS company's coin forum? This seems to be more a personal peeve against PCGS than one that you could prove that is what happened. The Forum has many who do not like Any slabbing company, but even they would have to have information or verification. For those that use and are satisfied with their service would just see this as cowardly as presented. Sorry to be blunt, Jim
If you're going to make an accusation, you need to back it up. What did they say when you called customer service to ask about the charge? How much was this unexpected charge, and what were you expecting to pay?
So which grading company does this guy work for? I'm gonna say not NGC. So ANACS? ICG.. @Insider is that you?
I spoke to an NGC rep at a coin show this year about a similar issue. She said that it's at their discretion (for example) to charge a regular or early bird service rate of $30 for economy level coins if someone submits an economy order for coins significantly OVER the value limit for the economy level. So, if you send in an economy submission, where the value limit is $300 per coin, but the coins in your order are worth $3000 per coin, then NGC reserves the right to upcharge your order to the early bird level of $30 per coin. I believe PCGS has the same thing written in their terms of service, though I'm too lazy to look this morning.
Yes, please supply the details to back up your accusation. What you have posted so far proves nothing and only creates the suspicion that you may be another PCGS troll. Don't be a troll, post some facts..... Oh, and guessing by your forum handle CBD may have hit the nail on the head, you probably exceeded the submission level value limit.
Robert91791, posted: "Nothing wrong with that..people are willing to pay for it." Oh, is that right, if you get overcharged for something it is OK. Scotty, hand me a screwdriver.
What are the typical prices you expect to pay through PCGS to have a Gold/Platinum coin graded. There are so many options on their list it is hard to figure out what is needed and what is not. For example of I have a $1200 dollar Gold Buffalo in BU condition, and I wanted to have it certified (obv. hoping to get a 69/70) what would the cost be? Then there are also different labels I have seen in many places, and I am unsure where these different label play into the cost (Buffalo Label, US Flag Label, Black Diamond Label etc.) I am trying to establish if it is better to buy Bulk BU and have them graded myself, or just buy the already graded MS70 FS Slabs. Any opinions are welcome, links to read up would be great.. This is my first post here, so I am eager to learn..
The OP hasn’t been on line since he posted his allegations. I ain’t holding my breath waiting for his return.
And we thought Ed Wood wouldn't return either. https://www.cointalk.com/threads/gtg-toned-jefferson-nickel-tunner-l-k.319044/#post-3120480 Just a big Grin Ed.
There is probably a lack of criticism on this site, I for one enjoy being on the critical end of a response to my words, it makes me think, and research what I don't know. Characters that join here should be held to the highest standard, because misspoken words are the easiest to digest.
S3v3n, I would suggest starting a new thread, with your question as the heading. Either the coin chat, bullion, etc. At the top of the page click on forums, pick the forum for your thread. Don't worry as everyone can see all threads in the public forums. When you see the list of threads in the forum you picked, look in upper right and click on the box " POST New THREAD" and then follow the directions. Jim
