Normal occurance, especially in a later die state.

as the dies get used for longer periods of time they lose their "sharpness". After all the metal dies are hammering against small pieces of metal some 700+ times a minute for who knows how long.

So Sharp Details start getting mushy and unclear and filled in over time. Then they change dies and start all over again.

Filled mint marks are actually the center post of the letter being broke off.

Pics would help. It could be from die deterioration, overpolishing of the die, or a grease filled die. Or a broken post.
