View attachment 792822 I know these aren't coins but these are some nice medals from the Cincinnati art museum. We spent about 3 hours there and barely scratched the surface of this awesome place. I will post full and better pictures when I get home to the computer.
The Sharonville show starts tomorrow. It will be Friday and Saturday. Although the Cincinnati Art Museum is only 20 minutes away, I've not been there for a year or two. Many years back in preparation for an exhibit on late antique North Africa, I got to study and select for display a hoard of several hundred 7th c. solidi from Byz. Carthage. I remember them fondly...
Some museums don't allow photos. But I guess with phone cameras that would be more difficult to enforce these days. Looking forward to more Cincy Museum coins.
The CAM formerly had on extended loan a display of superb Greek and Roman coins, property of a prominent local attorney. They were marvelous. The owner, to quote from the Stones, "...a man of wealth and taste..." gave a few lectures on them which were a joy to hear. He was erudite and articulate and knew his coins! Alas, they are there no more.
