Well as some may know I attended my first Numismatic show in Huntington, WV a month or so ago and I had a very good time talking with others about coins and seeing a nice assortment of coins, bullion and paper currency. I am with any luck attending this coin show as well. The wife and I are going to take a vacation and spend a few days around Cincinnati and catch a Reds game check out some cultural art and visit some museums and it just so happens there is a coin show going on then as well. It's hosted by coinzip as was the one I attended in Huntington. I hope to meet others there and have fun. I'm including a pic of the wife and I don't hesitate to talk to us we like to chat
You will be stepping on my turf, I'll be there! Anything in mind you wanna do around here? I would recommend going to our wonderful zoo(Child and Gorilla not included with ticket purchase). Sadly our wonderful Museum Center is under full historical renovation so it is closed but if you wanna see our beautiful building art deco I recommend a drive to it (It was used as inspiration for Justice League's Hall Of Justice). Don't forget to stop at Skyline Chili and maybe if you're up to it Montgomery INN BBQ!
I plan on making it Friday or Saturday I don't know if you've already booked your hotel but I would suggest staying at the Radisson in Covington Kentucky it's right on the river and they have a shuttle bus that will take you to the game for free or if you feel froggy you can just walk across the bridge it's not very far .. And you are right there by the Newport Aquarium also if you like bourbon I suggest you check out main strausse. Its right there too, there are about 20 or 30 bars and really nice restaurants You guys are going to have a good time
I may be able to make it on Friday or Saturday. The Cincinnati Art Museum is actually quite good for a medium size mid-western city. The American Sign Museum also gets rave reviews around here. If you like historic architecture, wandering around the Over-The-Rhine neighborhood is a must and Findlay Market has a great mix of vendors.
We have a Skyline here and I'm not that impressed with it. However Cincinnati is the home of it and possibly better so I may swing in for some lunch. Wow I didn't know the museum was closed it didn't list that on the website..thats a shame cause I was looking forward to it.
I'll be there on Friday. If I read correctly someone from ANACS will be there? And if so do they attribute coins and slab them at shows?
John Roberts will probably be there, he usually does free attributions on site and he will also give his opinion on grade if you need it. He is one of the top 3 silver dollars experts in the country btw. The Anacs staff will help you fill out the forms to send it in most likely. I dont know if they grade on site at the show. Its been a few years since ive been to this one. Im 100 miles +/- away
BTW, too bad about the Reds nowadays.. Us Cincy sports fans were spoiled it seems, in the 80s, and very early 90s. I wasnt alive and able to witness the Big Red Machine in the early 70s.... So i cant even imagine what it would be like to root for a dynasty team like that Hell, just eeking into the playoffs and losing round 1 is a great year unfortunately lol
That's not a great year, that would be a wonderful year and everyone would be celebrating on the streets!
even if they dont do onsite slabbing it will still be cool to meet someone from the company and see stuff they have and gain knowledge and direction.
I grew up in Columbus in the mid 80's through early 90's and was a humongous Reds fan. I miss the time of Griffey and Rose. Those to me were some great years.
We made it here and have a question. There is a city bar b q a few blocks down where we are staying on pfiefer is it any good?
City BBQ is a great choice if you guys decide to go to it and is that the one in Blue Ash? We always go to that one, great service there.
I'm stabbing it down to Cincinnati to go to the show... any other members going to be there today?? You cant miss me, i dont look like one of the old grey haired collectors. I look like im casin' the place. Black shirt with a big white C, black nikes and tattoes all over. The cops will be trailing me through-out the show
