My dad passed and I've inherited his coin collection. I came across an odd quarter. Ive been trying to find info on it. Nothing even in google. Anyone seen this error?
Poor George got a hair cut. Someone ground down the back of his head. No error just damage. Can see the clad layer peeking through where it was ground down.
Tooling marks where the hair is missing. This would have been a HUGE filled die to hide that much area. You need to get better pics of the obverse without so much of the surrounding area so we can see the area of the head and field near it.
Or rarther, can you tell me how i can see thay or how someone could alter it? It doesnt look smudged or anything. Why would someone do that? Sorry im new to coin collections so i have no idea about this stuff.
No problem, asking questions is how you learn. Why? Probably just for fun. Could have been done by some kid in shop class at school, we will never know. Possibly somebody does this to sell them for a profit, but I doubt it.
