Hi everyone! My eyes are probably going crazy again but does anyone else see doubling on the word United (the "u") and on the word cents? Let me know your opinions please! As always, thank you so much for any info.
No doubled letter U Just an old corroded coin which altered the letter. Probably was in water for an extended period of time. I have found similiar coins while metal detecting.
That V nickel is in bad shape. Hard to see anything on the reverse from so much damage and corrosion.
Maybe someone wire brushed it? (Before you got it.) They may have tried to clean, or scrape off whatever crud was there, permanently destroying this poor coin.
Many times, excessive damage or corrosion can appear to look like a genuine error. However, even if you were to have a doubled die (which you don’t) the corrosion would make it nearly impossible to verify with any certainty.
