My wife and kids know nothing about coins, so they don't buy them for me. But, the wife did say I can have a few thousand of my profit sharing to spend on coins, so I'm counting that as a Christmas present. Guy~
I got a really beautiful Archduke Maximillian Taler of 1616 in mint state, and I've just orded another taler from Saxony...
Every body knows I collect.....so I got a book to put prez dollars in from my wife. The kicker is the fact that my wife, who does not collect, got her yearly proof and mint set from her Aunt and I got a tee-shirt from her. On the plus side I did get three bottles of wine which I have not tried yet.:thumb: One German reisling (yum), one merlot, and one called The big red monster. I can't wait to try that one.
When it comes to numismatics: I got two 20-dollar bills from each brother , from mom some German banknotes from the 1920's, and from dad a 2008 redbook, a presidential dollar unc set, pres dollar proof set, and P&D mint sets. oh, and scratch-off lotto tickets one of which actually won me 4 bucks- my biggest payoff ever.
Book on coin varieties, as well as a presidential dollar book. Not bad, being that my brother and I dropped $30 at a coin shop the day before.
I bought the 10th anniversary platinum eagle set before Christmas and I was permitted to stay in my house!
My Norton anti-virus let a good one slip by and I got to spend the whole day reformatting and restoring my computer!! What a nice gift from cyber Santa.:rolling:
Norton is the pits---send me a PM if you want details. I don't do a big Christmas---just got together with my niece, and ate some food...but I did get some work done on my businesses and also had some fun playing a computer game with by Bro-in-law. Speedy
Same here, except it was 2 good meals. one for Christmas Eve with my family, and another for Christmas Day with my wife's. I did give a 2007 Aussie Silver Koala to my great niece, who was born in September though.
<Sigh> I got a wallet, a shirt and a $25 gift card to Red Lobster - which I'm supposing I CANNOT spend by myself..... I still get a kick out of the "Christmas Story" - this year it was on TBS during the 25th. How do you guys get people who nothing about coins to buy you Bust Halves, etc...... Hmmmmm. Seems like someone is short-circuiting Santa
I gave away 10 Uncirc sets and 10 Proof sets. About the same every year. I always receive the same thing in return. Vodka.
I got a gift certificate to my local coin shop, which I will use this weekend. I also gave my nephew a set of the Lewis & Clark nickels.
2006 American Heritage Set I got the 2006 American Legacy Set to with the 2005 set. 2007 set is next on my list.
