I found this dime in my change while running it through coin star, it was the only one the machine wouldn’t take. After I looked at it, I realized it only had one side, the front. The back looks like it partially tried to stamp, but almost like it didn’t have enough pressure to leave and endention on it. Not sure if I’m holding anything valuable, but it definitely caught my eye. My son and I have a small coin collection started, but by no means am I very good and determining if it’s worth any value. Even if not, it’s a hell of a conversation piece lol. Thank you to anyone who could help!

Looks like somebody ground the reverse (back side) off. Definitely appears to have been damaged after leaving the mint. No value over 10 cents but still an interesting curiosity.

It doesn’t look ground off to me, there are no marks and it’s super smooth

The last photo on the left shows diagonal lines towards the outer rim, so it was ground or sanded down by a rotating device.

It is not possible to have one side stamped and the other side not struck. It can only happen if another planchet or foreign object is blocking one of the dies, but yours is not that case. It was altered after it left the Mint. 100%

Your dime was ground down, then the grinding lines were buffed out. Kinda like doing your fingernails. They took a good amount of time on it trying to create an error but it’s just damaged.
