CONGRATS Charles! Fun feeling having that Ancient Gold! That is a cool coin. This is my first Ancient Gold, over 1500 years before yours! Carthage - Zeugitana AV 1/10th Stater-Shekel 350-320 BCE 0.94g 7.5mm Palm- Horse Head
I collect a lot of Modern World Gold, but the few Ancient Golds that I have are just incredible to hold/feel. I find it amazing how Gold is formed in Supernovae, and how incredibly HUGE the star must be. The explosion it makes... Really cool Ah, the Ecstacy of Gold...
Nice one! I'm always amazed at how gold ancients appear outside in full sunlight - they seem to beam energy back at you!
Congrats @Charles1997! It feels great owning your first ancient gold, doesn't it My first ancient gold coin was also a hyperpyron issued by John III Ducas-Vatatzes, but mine was minted in Magnesia, struck ca. 1232-1254. 1221-1254 AD John III Ducas-Vatatzes AV Hyperpyron Nomisma 24.3 mm, 2.77 g, 6 h
