First new purchase in AGES! Not yet received but having difficulty in attributing it. Seller misspelled the obverse legend. Using Dane's RIC lists, I only got one hit, based on RC and two dots under the bust, and there is no SPQR in ex. Seller's pics Shame some of the reverse legend is missing but reflected in the price. Some silvering is apparent. The one hit from Dane's list was an R5 from the Normamby Hoard in 1985. Am I missing something? Suggestions welcome.

Nice to find something out of the ordinary! Should make for an interesting research project to learn about the circumstances of its issue. Here are the more photogenic of my Claudius II coins (most of them are pretty grubby):
ah Pish... great to see you active again, you, keeper of the doo da sauce... fine Claudius Gothicus you have(getting) there.....i will post one of mine in honor of yours^^
This should be a good time for anyone who wishes to pick up their fill of Claudius II coins. CNG recently sold off a huge specialized collection with extreme rarities and many bulk lots of very ordinary coins that covered the spectrum of what there is to collect. One great fact of collecting ancient coins is that you need to buy things when they are available. I suspect many of those CNG Claudius coin lots went to people who wanted some but would be reselling others. A few years back I recall a time when there were lots of nice Probus coins that we don't see as often today. I probably have as many Claudius coins as I need. I wonder if I will resist buying others. Saving the worst for last, its hard to beat a flipover on trashy flan. They really had no quality control!
Beautiful coin, @Pishpash ! Great to have you back! You don't need a new coin every time you post. Reposting one that you already have is okay.
So very nice to see you again @Pishpash ! Nice coin to come back with. I miss your postings! Hope you are well. Here is a Claudius II RI Claudius II Gothicus 268-270 BI Ant Fortuna
Happy recovery. Just yesterday, I thought I should PM you. And here you are. I'll see what C2 I still have in those folders.
