Why don't you ask @Fred Weinberg if he still posts here.

These types of hit threads trying to grind an ax are just dumb. At worst it's a mechanical error which happens from time to time

maybe it came from an original bank bag from 1916?

Curious, did PCGS grade the 5% or the 95%?

Where are the markers for the 1916?
Full bands no problem. Just because the amount of coin minted isn't even half a band wide.

Yes im really grinding an axe here... infact they might just close their doors because of this thread:hilarious::rolleyes:

I have seen errors on a lable before. Im not saying it doesnt happen. But come on. They gave it a date and a FB designation. And neither are visible in the 5% of the design you see.

The OP does raise legitimate questions, though.

Sure enough. It’s in the PCGS registry. PCGS price is $70.

Maybe it's the die characteristics of the 5% that IS showing that is consistent with a 1916 FB?
    Uh, ...oh wait a sec-

.. I suppose that logic is even too nauseating for me.

FB has to be a labeling error. You can't list something that is impossible to
see on the label. Why did they decide it is a 1916?
Might as well call it a 1916-D.

Not really. It’s either a mechical error or came out of a mint bag or something like that. It’s really not a big deal

Oh puh-lease. A “mechanical error” on something like this is just PCGS’s excuse to weasel out of having to answer for what they put on their slabs.

And it would be cool if it came from a mint bag. But until PCGS confirms that is how they determined the date (and possibly strike), then the OP’s viable questions remain unanswered.

:banghead: You guys are right. You caught some big incompetent conspiracy and invalidated them. Keep the pitch forks coming with this meaningless outrage :banghead:
