This was my first major early U.S coin purchase back in 1986.
(It took me 32 years to get around to finally taking decent pictures of it....)

Let me know how you would grade this.

    Thanks!

Well your photos are much better than decent . . . and so is the coin.

Fine details due to the scratches but a nice original coin anyway. If it got a pass and graded straight I’d say f-15

My totally unqualified opinion, VF details. Nice piece to have.

are those die clashes that make it look like Ms Liberty has a beard and chin whiskers? I think it looks like F15; if the marks are light and only visible at certain angles could straight grade.

Not my series, but I’ll guess VF25 details, scratch. Beautiful coin.

Thanks. everybody. Funny that scratch is not obvious in-hand, but you can see it in the picture. I will inspect the coin to see how severe it is.

This is an O-117. Don't know if the beard/whiskers apparent in the picture (first time I notice this as well) are typical of this variety. Another thing to look up.

    Thank you, Randy:)

Checked HA archives for other O-117's. It lists this example which clearly displays the 'beard' under the chin, as in my coin. The listing describes this as ''an unfinished area on the planchet, or it could also be clash marks''.
