What happened to this 1999 Dime?

    Environmental damage. Looks like some light etching of the surface causing the striations so it was probably exposed to something mildly acidic or otherwise reactive with the cupronickel clad layer. That would also explain the discoloration

    It's definitely interesting. Think I'll keep it just because of that. Otherwise it's junk worth 10 cents (maybe) that won't be accepted into a soda machine probably lol.
