Here are the final two Herod the Great coins from the group of six that I purchased two weeks ago. The sixth coin of the group was a Herod Archelaus. A dealer that I purchase from frequently offered me first pick from a private collection that he acquired.
Herod the Great, probably best known from that well-known, if notorious, trial in the New Testament. A great, if bloody, achiever of the Romans. Much detail by the Judaean historian, Josephus.
Very nice @Deacon Ray and a great 6 overall - in the group above I especially like the Lepton with War Galley which is thought to honor the completion of Herod's Sebastos Harbour at Caesarea in 10 bc.
