I was looking across my 1970 S pennies. I'm aware of the small date and large date on a 1970 penny but as I put all three in a line I notice the last one with the D. It has the date almost evenly aligned. As to where the small or large date where 7 would be high or 7 would be low to identify large or small. So question is what's the third 70 D date be?! Also the penny in the middle doesn't Lincoln smile almost look like the Joker smile?
No, the "D" cent 7 appears in the photo that the top extension of the 7 has been hit /pushed downward giving the appearance you mention. There are the other difference that are the same in the D coin. Do not decide lg/sm only by one digit as some very minor damage can occur outside the mint. Jim
