    Hi,
I am new here. I got this 1989 mint condition penny without the letter "u" in the word "trust" in obverse. I have looked up Google, YouTube and the red book but couldn't find anything. I had a clear look using my scope and there seems to be some error in the letter "u" there is no scratch mark or anything. If some of you seasoned collectors could share some thoughts on it, that would be really kind:)

Welcome to CoinTalk. Many people on here like to joke, particularly about questions that are recurring. Yours is one of these. With this kind of phenomenon, I'm not sure how you would find out what it is unless you ask. What you have appears to be a "grease filled die"...whether it is grease or some other substance, what it means is that the die got filled up in that area and that is why the letter didn't show. Now, is this an error or what? It is quite common and although it is interesting, it doesn't carry any value above face value.

    Do you collect anything?

It may have been a greased die causing the letter to look like it is very weak.

    Welcome To Cointalk
As you stated it's a nice-looking coin but it does appear based on your picture that it is grease filled but if you like it keep it that's what this hobby is all about.JMO
