So, I just found this little fella and don't really know what to make of it. Thoughts?

Someone drilled a hole in it.
I find them quite often in my half rolls.

1 Kennedy is called a Half
2 or more are called Halves

Your Half is damaged.. Not a Mint Error

They took 1 Half and hallowed out 1 side, then took another Half and cut it in a way to fit into the hollow shell.. then for some reason they drilled a hole into it.

It's just holed. Not halved ;)

Duly noted on the correct term. Yes, the half has a hole, but what about it having two obverses and no apparent post-mint joinage?

You can see the ring where the 2nd (slightly smaller) obverse was put into the other coin in your 2nd to last picture.

Ah, I see it now! I am away from it right now, but can see what you are referring to.

Thanks! This is the first one of these I run into, so it got me somewhat perplexed.

I appreciate y'all's answers. Now I am gonna check my double die finds (Just kidding. no corrections needed on my last sentence :woot:)

It would have been neat without the hole.:)

I have its mate. Found a double reverse half couple of weeks ago. No hole. Post a picture later.

I guess there is a magician in my neighborhood that's calling it; hanging his hat and releasing the rabbit for good:

Found this half in the same box as the 1990 half.

    Sad, sad thing indeed.

Now that half might have warranted me thinking some type of error. Just curious as to how that coin got that way (specifically). Hammering or the like?

Yep, magicians coin. Nice hole, looks like a laser cut and not drilled.

Curious how the 71 half achieved a seemingly smaller planchet?
