It was a normal Cent once.. until someone got very bored and decided to have fun and started to damage it :yack:

    Not a Mint Error

I have a 2005 that looks similar. What does the obverse look like? I tried to find info on this coin with very little luck. Closest I found was actually on the U.S. Mints website. Possible capped die, and I'm thinking mine at least is on a wrong planchet as it weighs what a dime should. Hopefully you and I can both find out what coin we have.

PMD but an interesting looking coin. Strange how the very center of the Lincoln Memorial was left while the surrounding areas are gone. That is a decent enough photo but what does the obverse look like?

Looks like someone playing with acid. Of course the zincs are so thinly coated anyway, probably lots of things constitute acid when it comes into contact with them.

Not that it really matters, but it's definitely been turned on a lathe. Could be a cutting tool and/or abrasive. The circular lines are a dead give away. It's not acid

@RoseWesche you won't find it because it did not leave the mint that way. This coin was abused by someone who had a lot of time on their hands. They should be reported to the ASPCC.
