I am thinking about busting these open and only keeping a few, kind of expensive to sit on 5 rolls of quarters. Anyone have any interest in them? I think after shipping they wouldn't be worth it. Should I bust open, sell online, or take to a coin store?
No one will buy them online, I can walk into a bank and get the exact same thing Shop won't buy them either for the same reason. Crack em open and take a look
Solid date B.U. rolls generally go for around $15.00 per roll. After shipping and fees if you use ebay, it's not really worth the effort. Have some fun with them and see what you find. Also check www.doubleddie.com to see if there are any doubled dies for these years and mint marks.
Welcome to CT. These are very common so the best to do is crack the rolls and cherry pick the best to keep for yourself. Spend the rest but be sure to check for errors.
Once the series ended and folks realized they were not millionaires in waiting, it was fairly common to find such rolls simply turned in at banks. However, I'm having a hard time believing anyone can simply waltz into any bank and find them today.
I had always been a bit melancholy that I didn’t save a roll or two of the Indy quarters. Rather partial to the racing theme. If you don’t strike up any interest otherwise, send me a pm.
One of my favorite dirty jokes involves the Kentucky State Quarter.. it starts off like this- Have you heard about the Ky state quarter thats worth $1,000 ?? The US mint made a mistake and theres been 8 or 9 discovered so far... Youve seen it right? Theres a horse and a fence ....... edited Im not going to go any further into the joke, for fear of getting banned
That was my plan anyway lol. You could create your OWN punchline for this joke even. I came up with the original. Imagine telling a coin buddy that someone discovered a new error coin. Its all over coinworld coinweek etc. Tell him its the Ky state quarter and only a few examples have turned up. Start describing the Ky quarter, horse fence etc etc. Then as the suspense builds, on the rare error you will find... Back behind the horse there is a..... I will let you fill in the blank- my punchline involved a brother and sister, since it IS Ky were talking about here. Talk about hi-jacking a thread
