So, I'm trying to slowly start a small paper currency collection and I made a find today that I think is worth setting aside. I know its not worth much (if any) over face...but for $10, I think I'll hang on to it for now. What do you think?
RichieB16... Nice find if I dont say so myself. The San Francisco note you have had a serial number run (low to High) L78480001B to L33480000C Yours falls in the latter middle of the two. In CHCU it is worth ~$40 I would say that note is XF, but the long horizontal crease on top of the center fold breaks the paper and it may be reduced to a lower grade. All in all I would say1.5 to 2 x face on your find...I am by no means a grader..just my thoughts! Nice note!! RickieB
i can run, i can jump, i can scream, i can dance, i can throw temper tantrums ... but what i cannot do is get the banks near me to hand over notes like THAT over it might seem like there are a teller or TWO that are hoarding them all for themselves. I might need to move my accounts to different banks. the 3 i got arent doing much for me
I know what you mean. When I ordered my box of halves last week, explaining why I wanted them, I happened to mention star notes also. Wouldn't you know it, she said that she had found a couple herself earlier that day and set them aside for herself. She let me know today that someone told her that her's were worth $20 - $30 each. Just what I need, an educated vault teller.
Well, I'm a bank teller and I do keep my eyes open for interesting things to set aside, but this was not one of them. I got this in change from somewhere this week (I don't remember where...I made several different stops this week).
If you find anything else interesting you should PM me for my address. THEN you send it to me. If it's not worth anything over face I will send it back (charging you for shipping both ways of course). Seriously though. That is a keeper!
