Should I crack this 1883-CC MS65 (NGC) holder and submit raw to PCGS?

Looks "66'' to me -Great Pics btw - Sending it raw is not a good way to handle this coin in my opinion ..

It has great toning and you want them to conserve it? I think I would have just sent it to ngc instead.

You can say that again, @Ron W

@C-B-D said it. However, AT is the common term among collectors and dealers. PCGS states it as questionable color.

Excellent! It's worth the try. If you don't ask it's an automatic no. :)

Toning was nice, but not spectacular. I considered sending it to NGC. But for a number of reasons, I prefer PCGS for most US types, including Morgans. I prefer NGC for most world types.

Yes, that's a really good idea. Problem is I'm not a CAC member. I should go to my local coin dealer he is and would probably be willing. I also have a handful of other Morgans I would like to submit to CAC so next time I head over to him I'll see what he can do...

BTW - I'm on the CAC waiting list, anyone have any idea how long it is? LOL.

That stinks. PCGS is super conservative about toning - I've had similar experience with a beautiful naturally toned Morgan that came back AT as well. If you dip it, won't it probably come back again (as cleaned)?

Artificial Toning, or as the Third Party Grading Services (TPG's) say, Questionable Toning.

I think the little bit of milk spotting may keep a good dollar down. Very nice though, and PQ for sure. Is it worth the gamble?

IMO, there's no way this coin is grading lower if I submit it raw. I think the chances of a 66 or 65+ are way higher than a 64. And way higher if I send it raw than if I submit it for crossover. I'd be sending it in with about a dozen other coins (and I just got my fresh voucher for the year). But your Q is basically my Q. lol.

I don't think it will down-grade, and never mentioned I thought it would. But you are still out the cost of slabbing and shipping, which if it comes back as MS65 just increased your stake in it.

I'm having them conserve it. So they'll be doing the dipping.

I don’t see the coin over 65. Its a higher end 65 I see it with a cac green bean but not an upgrade
