Hi all, Is this what they consider a "rim burr"? And what would you guess as a value?

I could be wrong, but that looks like post-mint damage to me. Someone who is better versed in errors should be along soon.

Looks to me like when the plachet was punched out, there was a 'bur' that was later struck into the field of these coins. They look like nice examples to me. IMHO it's not post-mint damage.

I'm still learning about error identification. Thank you for replying, pcrdnadave. My membership with CONECA is still quite new and there is a lot to learn. :)

Easy way to tell - are the lines raised or incuse ?

And just as a heads up - you are placing your image tags twice like this -

    [/IMG][/IMG]

One at each end is all you need ;)

The lines are incuse. It is like pcrdnadave said, it definately looks like it was pressed into the face if the coin during the strike.

With my images, all I am doing is cutting and pasting the image link from photobucket.com. Am I doing something wrong?

See where you have [ IMG ] before and [/IMG ] after your pic ? That shouldn't be there. You should just see the pic like this -

Click on Edit for your original post in this thread - then look at the text and you'll see what I mean. [ IMG ] is there twice at the beginning. And [ /IMG ] is there twice at the end.

You only want them to be there once and then those code tags on each side of your pictures will disappear when somebody views them.

Yup, and it's a dandy! Usually rim burrs aren't too valuable, but this is a real gem, so maybe $5 - $10...??

Yes, these are classic examples of struck-in rim burrs.
