LOL! Good one. (Ominus1 was referring to a recent link shared by Ed, an essay about the different types of coin collectors.)
Greek Highlights. "Perseus, as a child, was cast into the sea by his grandfather, who was attempting to forestall the prophesy that the boy would one day kill him. Perseus was rescued and when he grew up went to the land of the Gorgons. These creatures with wings, body scales, and hair made of twisting snakes, were so ugly that those who looked upon them turned to stone. With the help of the gods Perseus killed Medusa, one of the Gorgons, and carried away her head. He freed Andromeda, a princess threatened by a man-eating serpent, and wed her. Next he turned his mother's suitor to stone by displaying Medusa's head - and fulfilled the prophesy by accidentally killing his grandfather."
Indeed he was, and I would never have known that if this coin had not been my teacher. (I haven't yet had any featuring the mythical Perseus.)
