    d_lairson Looking for loose change

My pile of World paper money is getting a little out of control. It is just stacked everywhere, with no real direction. I was browsing the web and i found some Currency boxes that look like they hold 100 notes in the plastic sleeves. They have one box for normal size and one for large. I'm assuming this means the sizes of US notes, but I would like some confirmation on that. Secondly, are there any storage sleeves/boxes for notes bigger than the standard large? I have some currency from Cambodia that just does not fit in the Large size sleeve.

Also are there sleeves out there that look like the ones used by NCG so I can put labels on them without hiding part of the design (also are there boxes that will hold these). Finally are there sleeves out there to hold the first day cover envelopes (like the Bicentennial ones which I am now collecting... not really paper money, but sort of the same shape.

    Cheers,
    David

What I started to do with world currency is I've recently bought 50 3-note currency pages on ebay that came out to .26 each with shipping. For US and smaller size notes I use Collector Safe brand and for larger I just bought a 75 pack of BCW Large Bill Holders that came out to .12 each with shipping. These will hold most of your modern world notes. I bought a 100 Dinar note bearing the portrait of Saddam Hussein from Iraq and I wasn't expecting it to fit in the BCW holder but it fits in great with room to spare, they are larger than the "Large" Collector Safe holders. Then all you need is a 3-ring binder or two. With these supplies you can safely look at and store your world notes, organizing them by region or country or otherwise as you see fit. Your envelopes should fit in fine by themselves in the pages. As far as labeling what I've done is just typed out what I have with a catalog number(P-#s) in a word file, I haven't quite figured out the best system for noting what I have so I may make some changes with this.

all my world noted right now, are stored in an envelope for each country, and packed in a 4 row card box with the 2 of the insets removed. the envelopes fit perfectly.

What I have done is gone to Staples and bought the 30 min fire protection money boxes (metal box) and and have one for each denomination of notes I have. Then, I keep it in my safe or sometimes SDB when I am look at at the collection or scanning images.I through in a few packs of silica gel with the notes and presto preservation!
Go to your local shoe store and ask them for the small packs of silica gel..you will get tons of them for free!!
