I was unable to log-in to eBay earlier this evening, and was concerned that my account had been hijacked. I contacted eBay, and learned they had the same complaint from some other sellers as well. They tried to make this out to be a fairly insignificant interruption, saying I should be back on within an hour, but it's now been 3 hours. Is anyone else having the same issue? - Mike
Yep, same issue a few times over the last 2 days or so. Waited a while each time and was eventually able to log in.
I had the same issue on another site very similar to e bay. Perhaps Russian hackers at work? Change the password on your router and see if that helps.
I don't think it's the router Paddy. I'm having no issues at all with any of the many other sites I log in to. When eBay Customer Support was assisting me, they linked me to my eBay profile page so I could change my password. Then I exited eBay and tried to log-in with the new password, and was still unsuccessful. eBay CS was on the phone with me the entire time, and was stymied. Then I was handed off to eBay Tech Support who indicated it to be a known issue, albeit with a limited number of members. They seemed to know the root cause, as if it had to do with a recently implemented code change. I'm frustrated because I won an auction with a sniping bid while on vacation and, now that I've returned, I cannot timely pay for the item or even communicate with the seller.
Same thing happened to me yesterday, Mike. When logging in a message appeared that my user name or password was incorrect. That was using the eBay app, but it was trouble free using a browser.
I've experienced the same issue whether logging on from my desktop or remotely with my tablet . . . both using the browser.
I gave up many months ago on using my desktop for eBay. It won’t recognize my login at all. No problem with my phone or iPad using my home router. I just assume they made an “improvement” somewhere along the line.
Finally got back to logging in normally today. Thanks to all for your comments and suggestions, and thanks especially to @DUNK 2 for his off-line assistance. - Mike
