I love planmans quote from the thread:

"The idea of "Why are you targeting this scam artists when there many others" is totally illogical. Just because we can't catch them all we should just ignore the problem? Silly."

That was the reason for my bumping this thread.

    This was mine....

"Sir I find your entire post defending a insanely obvious scam and then (And this is so odd I am totally perplexed) stating that me calling out this obvious scam raises 'red flags' to be beyond insulting. It is insulting personally but also just intellectually insulting."

And the clown has the nads to ask: "Again---are you just trying to start trouble?" In retrospect, perhaps I should have caused a little more... ;)

I didnt read the whole thread, here- or the one scamman2014 started.

I got a kick out of this little snippet from the other thread.
    scamman2014 Quote-

" I will apologize, i called the guy a scumbag and i shouldnt. That was too nice.
He is a UTTER scum bag and the people who try to defend him are no better."

Kachorkle. What does that make planman2014 then??
    Shall we call him-
    Scam man?
    Flim flam man?
    Piece of trash man?

Do not bump threads! Some people see it and also do it to increase their post numbers rapidly so they can deal in the ads. You could be increasing the scams yourselves. If they actually have to post something, we at least have an idea of their coin knowledge. Jim

Perhaps dear planman's scams should be featured from now on? With all due respect, Jim: how much more can the administration do to promote an ongoing fraud perpetrated against its own membership?

I understand and respect Doug's position even if I don't agree, but trying to silence folks like @jtlee321 for attempting to warn others is a bit much, as is worrying more about potential scammers than the one slapping us in the face. Just my most humble opinion, of course.

Personally, I have called hundreds, if not thousands, of theifs, "theifs" on public forums without any legal response. I'm not too worried about a civil defamation of character case from a known scammer because the the case would be frivolous and liable to a very expensive counter-suite. As a business owner, I would be more worried about negligence for creating an open environment for scammers to conduct business.

I would like to quote David Bower's recent article for Coin Update regarding the ethically devoid, which loosely relates:
"Neither the ANA nor the PNG is even slightly interested in regulating ethics, giving excuses such as “afraid of lawsuits,” etc. As a proponent of ethics in numismatics, and as having worked with the Federal Trade Commission to put fraudsters in jail, I can say that NO perps ever threatened to sue the ANA or the PNG. Nothing but nothing is being done about ethics. The ANA and PNG act on specific complaints, but that is about it. How sad."

I have a friend who recently opened a case against a PNG dealer, who took him for nearly $2000 extra in a trade. (My friend accidentally sent him an MS65 instead of an MS64, as agreed upon, and the dealer who promised to make it right, is now allegedly playing dumb). They got an arbitrator involved. No word yet on the next move. PNG dealers have to abide by certain dealer ethics, but it remains to be seen if this dealer will have any consequences for his actions.

I haven't seen any posting of a formal action to initiate discovery efforts for a legal efforts. As stated in post #90 I was victimized, and promised unrealized reimbursement. I believe the statute of limitations for my incident elapse in October, 2018. I believe in providing reasonable "benefit of doubt" up until legal recourse is limited/eliminated.

Although numerous direct contact attempts have been initiated to remedy the situation, only believed untruths have been received.

I intend to submit a proper filing to Postal Inspectors and states authorities prior to 10/2018. Similar violation reporting by other victims generally affords greater efforts by USPS/Others. If a general (e.g. contact information) PM to me was received from others, it would be forwarded in my report, possibly assisting in damages recovery.

    Legalities?

How can public venue / 'interweb' / public park [forum] / etc. be liable?

A trade (maybe even for a couple $k) between 2 people goes awry in Central Park New York; anyone think NY City Gov't can be held liable? No. Or same trade in a private park? No. Maybe taken to court, but nothing more, including judgement against.

Nowadays of course, when you try to use your wheelbarrow tire on the highway, when clearly marked, "NOT FOR HIGHWAY USE", you can still sue, and get publicity. You ain't gettin' $ tho'.

'Course, gettin' AD REVENUE does expose you.......

Just allow follow-up posts in 'Trade' sub-boards, negative feedback, and warnings, etc., unless you got a lot to protect. In which case, you're not afraid of that silly stuff...

    Edited: Political

Don't try to insulate yourself. EXPOSE YOURSELF, AND MAKE IT RIGHT. FOR ALL...............................................

Coward? I hope you can get something back MK, in the end. Too bad there's not much help 'LOCALLY', if ya' know what I mean...

But I disagree mk he's a coward; he does what he can get away with. I don't like it, but more power to him.

Cowards are the ones who do nothing about it (sort of like me and you), and WORSE cowards are the ones who CAN do something, and are afraid of ADDRESSING CONFLICT - the ones in charge ;)

You know - "Go somewhere else with your battle, then I'll take sides with the winner". Kinda' like a politician :)
