Just wondering how many sacagawea collectors are out there. 2000-present. Not a series I hear to much about any more.
They're nowhere near as popular as other series, but this doesn't mean someone fond of the type shouldn't collect them. This hobby is yours to enjoy and make of it what you see fit. It shouldn't matter what other folks do or like.
Ya I try to collect as many of the Us coinage series as I can, it just surprised me what small quantity I've come across at local coin shops and flea markets especially since they're still minting them. Just threw it up in the air to see if others have had this same issue.
Not interested, but I just do the vintage stuff. Not trying to sound negative or dismissive, collect what you like.
I once used some Sac dollars for a purchase at the pharmacy. The clerk had to ask the manager if they were real money She said they looked like play money.
I recently came across a bunch from the 1st year or two of minting. I assume they were all from playing on the boardwalk in NJ. When clearing out my fathers house after he passed i found a bunch of my coins this year. These seem to however rust or corrode faster than any other coin.
My Credit Union has bunches of them still in the rolls. They're not able to get rid of them. The local toothfairy used to use them. but if you enjoy collecting them then that is worth it. Collect what you like and what you can afford. I collect coins but I only buy a few per year as they are expensive.
I don't collect them, but to each their own. I just think the design is ugly, if the truth be told. Bruce
