Chop Marks on Peru Copper Coin?

    Member of my local coin club brought this in to a meeting and had no information about it. I've never seen a chop marked copper coin. Does anyone have more information about it? IMG_2451.JPG IMG_2450.JPG IMG_2449.JPG

    Your pics are a bit blurry bit I'm not seeing anything I would consider chop marks. Looks like the obv might be countermarked but that's all I see. And I have no idea if is a legitimate countermark or not.

    I don't know about your coin but I posted this a few years ago and was told that it was added after the fact to make it seem more valuable when it actually isn't.

    It looks like the Japanese character 大. There is a large population with Asian heritage in living in Peru. I know that does not help much, but the c/s on a late nineteenth century coin from Peru does not seem that unusual all things considered.

    It cannot be a chopmark. A chopmark is done to confirm if a coin is of good silver or plated.

    I wouldn't classify the marks in either of your coins as chopmarks more along the lines of graffiti
