Hi guy I posted the other day about this but the old pics where blurry hopefully this one will help I have a 1945 dime mint mark s. The question is I was looking closely at it with a magnified glass something looked off about it with the naked eye. Upon close inspection with the glass I noticed the 5 on the date had a tail like thing made on it none of my other 1945 dimes had it so I googled the 45 dimes they all had normal 5s could anyone tell me what it is there was some very helpful guys the other day but no definite answer due to the old pics blurry hope this helps thanks
I'm sorry but i can see absolutely nothing from your photograph. It's too bright, try retaking with less/different lighting.
Kinda thought that myself but upon closer inspection there is no gauge marks or anything that would suggest damage the bottom loop on 5 is still intact just has the tail coming off it even ware no gauging nothing it's a real head scratcher but if it is damaged it's still going to the collection. Like to have it inspected by a coin dealer but know of none close ..
Hi thanks I'm kinda new to collecting dimes usually just collecting old penny's so it's nothing really special or rare? I've heard of cud metal but that's about it thanks
Pictures are not too good, but it can only be one of two things. It is either damage or a small die chip, if it is damage it would reduce the value, a small die chip would not really add a premium. I am not sure what is meant by cud metal, but a cud is a die break that involves the rim so it is not that.
