Apollo enface aeolian mussel

    Saw this coin on Cointalk from members SteveX and TIF , when this one came along for a modest price, I didn't hesitate, I like the Apollo enface, the mussel and the colour of this coin.

    Very appealing, and with a notably non-squashed nose! That's usually such a problem with front-facers.

    Mine has a rather dark patina, causing the usual difficulties with photography...

    I encountered the same spelling variations, but your coin states clearly GYRNION
    and on the map above its Gyrneion , so I think thats the way to go.

    I love mussels, in Paella as made by my spanish wife :

    All of them which have the name spelled out in full show Y before R (that I recall), so I was puzzled about the transliteration. Somewhere I vaguely recall coming across an explanation for the more often seen modern spelling. I bet @Roman Collector or one of our other language whizzes could explain it.
